About

Liana Poole is a New Zealand-qualified osteopath holding a master's degree (M.Ost) and bringing nearly 25 years of clinical experience to her practice. After a deeply rewarding two decades founding and running the successful Wanaka Osteopathic Clinic from 2005 to 2024, she made the move back to the coast. Having practiced locally since early 2025, she has already built a strong bond with the Raglan community. Now, she is thrilled to be stepping out on her own again with Breakthrough Osteopathy to provide specialised care for local families, athletes, and their animals.

Liana’s approach is evidence-informed, trauma-aware, and focused on achieving fast, sustainable results. As a pioneer in osteopathic technique development, she moves beyond traditional care and conducts innovative research both in-practice and alongside Osteopaths New Zealand.

Raised between coastal Northland and the Waikato, Liana has a deep-rooted connection to nature. This lifelong bond with the land and sea informs her practical, down-to-earth approach to healing.

Growing up on farms, Liana’s desire to understand and help animals showed from an early age, as she developed experience with pets, farm animals, and horses. She was given her first dog at seven, took responsibility for his training, and has owned dogs ever since. During her Master’s degree in 1999, Liana began applying osteopathic techniques across different species and later, while working alongside veterinarians in Wanaka, cared for animals throughout the community. Seeing how well they responded to treatment inspired her to continue developing her animal osteopathy practice, where she treats both common and complex conditions.

Now settled in Raglan, Liana provides personalised physical, emotional, and community-centered care. She collaborates closely with medical, veterinary, and allied professionals to help both people and animals return to the activities they love. When she isn’t in the clinic, you’ll likely find her surfing or at the beach with Cleo, her loving hound and therapy dog who reminds her every day of the power of connection.
