Breakthrough Osteopathy
Research

Research

In the late 20th century, published osteopathic research was relatively scarce and difficult to access. Today, a growing body of research supports osteopathic care for a range of common health conditions, and many osteopaths—including Liana—actively contribute to this literature.

Patterns observed over many years in clinical practice led Liana to undertake pragmatic, practice-based research across several areas, including:

  • A formal publication in progress with Osteopaths New Zealand on Osteopathic Approaches in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A preliminary study has been completed with promising results, forming the foundation for the current research
  • An Investigation into Human Biomechanics, examining how shockwave therapy affects quadriceps strength and function, and how this relates to common compensatory patterns. Early findings are promising, showing sustained improvements in strength and posture, and reductions in some cases of scoliosis; further data collection and analysis are ongoing.
